'I made this work in Igloolik in the Canadian polar region. The photograph shows Nathan Kumanaq, in his seal outfit, with a buoy under his arm. I enjoying portraying this generation of Inuits, who still have the experience of surviving in the polar region. These skills seem to be lost among the young, a generation that spends a lot of time behind the computer. Here, I see the buoy as some sort of ‘anchor’: a tribute to the older generation.'
