REGREEN REVOLUTION 2021
A PRINT SALE FUNDRAISER
FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE
7 June – 21 June 2021
The second Pictures for Purpose print sale fundraiser (7 June – 21 June 2021) sought to generate valuable channels of support for a pressing global cause: the climate crisis. Since the advent of the pandemic, our societies have been forced to enact drastic change to cope with COVID-19. Many of us wonder when the climate crisis will be treated with the same urgency. In collaboration with Justdiggit and the United Nations Environment Programme, Pictures for Purpose hoped to spotlight the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. For this edition, works by 36 international artists were featured – many of which offered creative reflections on the topic in question.
The proceeds from this fundraiser were shared between Justdiggit, an organization combating climate change with grassroots organizations in East Africa, and the participating artists themselves, to account for lost revenue during the coronavirus pandemic. Our efforts across this edition generated an incredible €85.000 in sales.
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration The United Nations General Assembly has declared the years 2021 to 2030 as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations – with the support of partners like Justdiggit – it is designed to prevent, halt and reverse the loss and degradation of ecosystems worldwide.
Justdiggit
Justdiggit is committed to reviving lost ecosystems, with an emphasis on regreening millions of hectares of land where vegetation is threatened by climate change. A global call to action, the UN decade draws together political support, scientific research, and financial muscle to massively scale up restoration.

WHY SUDAN NEEDS URGENT SUPPORT
Since war broke out in April 2023, conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has triggered the largest displacement and protection emergency in the world today. Attacks on displacement camps, hospitals, and critical infrastructure, as well as looting, torture, and widespread conflict-related sexual violence, have displaced almost 12 million people. The situation in Sudan has become a regional emergency with global implications that cannot be ignored. The ripple effects are being felt across an already fragile region, placing enormous strain on host communities, local services, and humanitarian operations, while the needs of those affected continue to grow.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes due to conflict and persecution. The UNHCR remains on the ground in seven states across Sudan, as well as working in neighbouring countries to protect and assist refugees and returnees. Despite insecurity and access constraints, teams continue to provide life-saving support, coordinate emergency response, and advocate for protection and access to basic services.
